Exploring Acupuncture & Reiki Together at True North Acupuncture in Denver

For anyone who has tried all the conventional medical options and is still searching for relief, the world of holistic medicine offers so many possibilities. Sometimes, though, it can feel overwhelming to know where to begin. Acupuncture has become increasingly mainstream in recent years, making it a wonderful gateway to holistic wellness. Under the umbrella of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acupuncture is joined by other healing practices such as cupping, herbal medicine, and gua sha.

Still, some people may feel hesitant to try acupuncture at first—maybe because of a fear of needles or misconceptions about painful techniques like dry needling. That’s where Reiki can be a beautiful alternative or complement. Like acupuncture, Reiki works with the body’s energy system, but instead of needles, it uses gentle, hands-on touch to restore balance and promote healing.

As both a licensed acupuncturist in Colorado and an Usui and Karuna Reiki Master Teacher, I love blending these two modalities in my Denver practice, **True North Acupuncture**. My own path to healing began with Reiki when I was a teenager struggling with chronic health issues. That experience, along with years of exploring alternative medicine, eventually guided me to Traditional Chinese Medicine and becoming a board-certified acupuncturist. With nearly 15 years of experience in energy work, I create customized sessions that draw on the best of both worlds.

In my view, acupuncture and Reiki are two sides of the same coin. Acupuncture is especially effective for physical concerns like pain, digestive issues, sleep struggles, allergies, fertility support, and fatigue, while Reiki often works more directly with mental, emotional, and energetic layers—helping with deep relaxation, emotional release, chakra balancing, and intentions like grounding, empowerment, or peace. Together, they provide a truly holistic experience that supports both body and spirit.

For example, when treating something like IBS, acupuncture can calm digestive symptoms and reset the nervous system, while Reiki supports the solar plexus chakra—often connected to stress, fear, and personal power. Addressing both sides allows the healing to go deeper and reach the root of the issue, rather than just covering up symptoms. The same holds true for stress-related pain, trauma held in the body, or even energetic “scar tissue” after surgery or loss.

At True North Acupuncture in Denver, my goal is to meet each client where they are. Some people prefer alternating between acupuncture one week and Reiki the next, while others love the combination approach. Typically, I recommend trying each on its own first so you can feel the difference before blending them. That way, your journey is tailored to your needs and intentions.

Most importantly, I want every client to feel safe, supported, and empowered on their healing path. Whether through acupuncture, Reiki, or both, these tools can help you feel lighter, calmer, and more connected to yourself. If you feel curious or called to explore, I’d love to welcome you into my Denver practice. Sometimes your intuition is guiding you toward exactly the kind of healing you need—and I’m here to walk that journey with you.
