Paleo Banana Bread Donuts with Chocolate Frosting

I love talking to my patients about gentle shifts they can do with their food. For example I LOVE to bake, can you tell? I love using natural sugar alternatives like coconut sugar or honey or maple syrup. Refined sugar is a hormone disrupter and causes systemic inflammation among a ton of other issues. Don’t get me wrong, in moderation perfectly fine!

What you’ll need…

  • 2 mashed bananas

  • 3 tbsp coconut sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 ts vanilla

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil

  • 3/4 paleo pancake mix

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 ts baking soda

  • 1/2 ts cinnamon

  • 1/8 ts nutmeg

    Chocolate frosting…

  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup

  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 1 tbsp alternative milk

Preheat 350. Mix mashed bananas, sugar, egg, vanilla and coconut oil. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking powder/soda, cinnamon, nutmeg. Fold in dry ingredients. Grease donut pan. Fill 2/3 of the way. Bake for 10 mins. Let cool.

For frosting, whisk ingredients until smooth. dip cooled donuts in the frosting.
